The kind of Portraits that are made here are creative portraits in pastel that represent a certain romantic ideal in which the subject feels is an embodiment of their character.  To capture this, the process involves several stages.

The first stage is a preliminary meeting or session that may entail informal discussions regarding the purpose of the commissioned portrait, its dimensions as well as financial considerations. A second meeting is required for further discussion to get a better idea and understand the subject more in order to develop ideas for a suitable concept for the painting.  Based on this initial meeting, several sketches done very roughly are presented to the subject for approval before the next stage can begin.

For these creative portraits, The paintings are made from photo reference taken by the artist. The reasons for working from photos as opposed to working from life is to reduce the amount of time the artist has to spend with the subject (time may be limited so it's out of courtesy to the subject) and to allow creative freedom and control to the artist.  So the second stage is a photo session where the reference photos are taken. A date and time is set for the photo session which may last approximately 1 to 2 hours. Most of the time spent is taken up with the artist shooting up to 150 photographs of the subject. These photographs assist the artist in the accurate rendering required in the successful completion of a portrait.  A followup meeting, if needed, will be arranged between the client(subject) and the artist.

The last stage usually takes place at the time of delivery. Generally, delivery occurs one to three months after the first meeting.
